Day 5: (Sat 15th Mar 2008): Ian was busy photographing dunnies (or dunny users). Must be his age. The rest of us were after that elusive weka shot. Really missed my SLR here.

Our final walk started by heading down to check out the Dillon Homestead which was undergoing renovations but looked far more pleasant than even the new Dillan Hut. It was then along a 4-wheel drive track out to Highway 73

Those in front got the best blackberries so there were no good ones left to photograph (or eat).

Our "bus" arrived and so we were off to Jackson's tavern, then a swing through Otira, a stop to view Mt Rolleston then a pop into Arthur's Pass DOC centre, before heading back to Christchurch and a hot shower.

Post Script

Alan, Jim and I returned to Palmerston North to collect the car from my cousin who put on lunch for us all! We then drove back to a still drought stricken Taranaki. My finger is still swollen and restricted. The Orthopod has advised hand physiotherapy, which looks like it will take a very long time to produce a good result. The ring finger is also very restricted.
